Living Intentionally

Before we started living out the One Month To Live lifestyle, Chris and I always had good intentions but we were never really intentional. Now, rather than hoping we can fit things into our schedule we are learning to “make time” for the important things. My son, Steven, got a new bike for his birthday, and we’ve been going on bike rides the last three days - and having a great time. I’m learning more and more that you have to make time to do the things that are the most important.

I’ve found that asking that clarifying question if I had one month to live each and every day helps me live an intentional life. I have to make sure that I schedule in those times that are most important. Have you discovered the fact that if you don’t decide what’s important everyone else will be glad to decide it for you? The thing that’s been the most effective about the One Month To Live lifestyle that we’ve heard from so many people is that they get very intentional about their time. You see, time is your life. You can spend it, invest it or waste it. And if you waste your time, you waste your life.

Would you let me know today how you’ve been getting intentional doing the things that are the most important to you? Maybe some suggestions on calendaring, or maybe just a story of how you’ve made time to do something that was most important. How did you schedule it and how did it make you feel?

Hey Y'all.

Thank you so much for your visit to Saddleback. I lead worship for our Irvine regional campus and we just saw your message this last weekend on video. God really speaks through the both of you. We were so blessed to have you come to our church. Maybe I will see yall soon when I come out to visit my family in Austin.

Blessings

I am using my time wisely. Where I was prone to procrastinate, I keep telling myself I don't have another day to do this, it needs to be done today. I have been liberated. I am no longer doing things based on whether or not I feel like it.

I read the concept of the cup being filled with big and little rocks some time ago. It resonated with me that if I don't put in the big rocks first (the most important things in my life) then it will surely fill up with things that are less significant (small rocks). I set a weekly scheduling time to arrange my days with the most important things to go in first. I wish I could say I had been completely successful, but that wouldn't be the truth. I will, however, revisit this priority and plan in my life until the day I die (if it takes that) to get it right.

Hi Chris and Kerry, I'm a Saddleback Church member and I wanted to thank you both for sharing your time and gifts with our church-6 services! I attend the 6:30 pm Sunday service which is the last of six services and everyone asked me if you both were there in person or were you taped from an earlier service. I was so proud to say that you both were there in the flesh! I pray that you and your family continuosly realize God's blessings and that you are able to continue your ministry for generations to come. Your book has helped me find my ministry-I attended a seminar called Asset Building for our youth (serving youth has been my passion) and its basic premise is that it takes a kind and caring village to properly raise a kind and caring child. I have taco thursdays at my home where my 13 yr old daughter invites her friends in school. This allows me to build a rapport with teen-agers in my community and foster a Christian environment for them-I am intentionally adding myself as an "Asset" in their lives. This allows me to use my influence and affluence to obey God's calling for me. Thank you so much for all you've done, are doing, and for future results that can only be favorable with God's grace.-Michele Inigo from Mission Viejo, CA.

Just recently I have decided to be more "proactive" or intentional in loosing weight. I had prayed asking the Lord to help me. He has & I have lost a little. Not only am I eating healthier foods I am now learning to tell when I am full so that I can have self control on portion sizes. Praise God!
