MAKE IT GLORIOUS
Proverbs 4:3 “Wisdom will make your life glorious!”
Today, I want to talk to you about the benefits of wisdom. Even if we are a person with a lot of faith and book smarts, it is no substitute for making and learning how to make wise decisions.
The dictionary defines wisdom as “the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting.” God calls this ability supreme and thinks wisdom is so important to success in our lives that He tells us to sell everything we have just to buy wisdom. He implores us, “Get wisdom—it's worth more than money” (Prov. 16:16 MSG).
So, why would God tell us that? Because if we have wisdom, we have the ability to make the right decisions in life. Whether you are young or old, male or female, rich or poor, wisdom will help you make the right decisions in your relationship with God, in your family, with your friends, on your job and in every other area.
And what are the benefits of wisdom? According to the Bible, a few of the things that come along with wisdom are riches and monetary success; honor and a good name; protection from the ways of wicked men; patience; and blessing, just to name a few.
I don’t think there is a single other factor out there that can give you all of those benefits, except wisdom.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Tomorrow, we’ll talk about how to get wisdom. But, today take a few minutes to think about the areas in your life where you would like wisdom. Write them down and ask God for His wisdom in those matters.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, today I ask you to reveal to me the importance of seeking your wisdom in every area of my life. Thank you for providing wisdom to me so that I can make good decisions and receive the benefits that come along with wisdom. Amen.
